Throughout the years in the industry, UCC has grown to become a competitive and dependable ICT partner and Service Provider for central and local government authorities in and beyond, academic institutions, the business community as well as civil organisations.

Background

UCC is an ICT company wholly owned by the University of Dar Es Salaam was originally established to conduct lectures in all computer related courses, to conduct researches in informatics and to provide computing services and consultancy in ICT to both the university and the rest of the country.

Since the 1st July 1999, all academic matters have been transferred to the newly formed computer science department. This has now left the Computing centre to concentrate on the management and business side of Information and communication Technology services for the university and the rest of community in Tanzania and elsewhere in the world.

Presently the Centre is a fully-fledged ICT company of the University of Dar es salaam. This gives the centre, the much needed flexibility to operate and serve the customers even better. The training in short courses covering all popular business applications like word processor, spreadsheet, databases, presentations software, desktop publishing, project management, web design and similar other courses are still handled by the centre.
