Institute of Adult Education, Dar es Salaam, REG/PWF/018, Government institution with full registration, Dar es Salaam, Full.IAE has come a long way since its founding in early 1960s when it started as a section under the department of extra- mural studies of Makerere University College under the University of London. Then it became part of the University College of Dar Es Salaam in 1963, having more activities including research, Distance Education and training of adult educators. In 1975, IAE was established as an autonomous institution under the then Ministry of National Education, presently called Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT).

Programs Offered

The department plans to design and develop the following courses
• Certificate in Distance Education
• Diploma in Distance Education
These courses aim at increasing the number of Distance Education Experts.
2. Commercial courses
• Elementary and Certificate in Accountancy;
• Elementary and Certificate in Marketing;
• Elementary and Certificate in Procurement and Supplies.
3. Technical Courses
• Introduction to Electrical Installation
• Introduction to motor vehicle mechanics
4. Introduction courses
• Mathematics
• English
5. Other courses
• Entrepreneurship; and
• Life Skills.
