The Mission of the College is:
- to provide educational programs which will be progressively harnessed to focus as best as possible on the economic and social development of the people at all levels;

- to explore, test and analyze new ideas, models and alternative avenues for development and promotion of a viable and just human society;
- to realize hopes and meet the expectations of the ELCT by developing resources from which fresh intellectual and spiritual breezes will spring up and spread out far and wide for the renewal of the Church and society as a whole.
Objectives of the College
The College shall, subject to the Provisions of this Charter, and in addition to any other powers conferred by the Charter have the following objectives:
- to preserve, transmit and enhance knowledge for the benefit of the peoples of Tanzania, Africa and the rest of the world without gender discrimination in accordance with the various principles and developmental strategies prevailing in theworld;
- to empower students to enhance the formation of their fundamental capabilities, and by assisting them to think critically and to be skilful in communication and methods of inquiry;
- to create a sense of public responsibility in the students and to promote respect for learning and the pursuit of truth and mature thinking about the ultimate meaning of human life;
- to encourage perspectives and moral values embodying a sense of vocation, a deep concern for human betterment, an obligation of service to others equality among persons, loyalty to the truth and responsible citizenship;
- to develop and promote leadership with moral character and instilled with a sense of care and responsibility for all;
- to stimulate and to promote cultural development, inter-personal relationships and international understanding among the students;
- to promote an understanding of the practical applications of knowledge including historical origin, purpose and meaning of life, a sense of value to life, a balance of intellectual and spiritual health , identification with African culture, and integration of various cultures.
- to provide conducive learning and working environmentto special needs of women and of persons with common physical disabilities of sight, hearing and movement.
Powers and Functions of the college
- to provide courses leading to degrees, diplomas or certificates, including training for persons wishing to enter the College;
- to hold examinations and to confer degrees, including honorary degrees and other awards, upon persons who have followed courses of study approved by the Senate, and, additionally or alternatively, have satisfied such other requirements as may be determined by the Senate;
- to institute, establish or create professorships and other posts and offices and to make appointments thereto in line with such organizational structure as shall be approved from time to time by the Board in consultation with the Council;
- to provide for research and courses of instruction, whether on a full time or part-time basis, by correspondence or extramurally, and to take such other steps as may appear necessary and desirable for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge;
- to erect, equip and maintain laboratories, offices, halls, of residence, lecture halls, libraries, museums and other buildings and structures required for the promotion of its objects;
- to regulate and/or provide, where possible, and subject to the College regulations, housing for its students and members of staff;
- to co-operate with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and other interested institutions of the peoples of Tanzania and outside the United Republic in the planned and orderly development of quality education, science and technology in the United Republic of Tanzania
- to provide and maintain sports fields and other recreational facilities;
- to establish pension and superannuation schemes for the benefit of its staff;
- to demand and receive such fees as may from time to time be prescribed by the College Governing Board;
- to acquire any property, movable, or immovable and to take, accept and hold any property which may become vested in it by way of purchase, exchange, grant, donation, lease or testamentary disposition;
- to open, maintain and operate bank accounts as approved by the Board;
- to sell, mortgage, let or hire, exchange, donate or otherwise dispose of any property held by it;

Entry requirements for undergraduate students
The minimum entry requirements are based on the standard set by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) as follows:
- Form Six leavers must have passed and advanced secondary school examination (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 score.
- Holders of an ordinary diploma in community development should have at least second class pass or equivalent qualification in related field.
Entry requirements for Post Graduate Students
The minimum entry qualification is successful completion of a three year undergraduate degree course, an advanced diploma course or equivalent from a recognized institution.

The institution which has become the Arusha Technical College (ATC), was established in 1978 jointly by the Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and Germany, under the name of the Technical College Arusha (TCA). The College is located at the Central Business District of the Arusha City which is the Northern Tanzania’s centre of agriculture, commerce, trade and tourism. Arusha City is also the Head Quarter of the East Africa Community and is the central point in Africa between Cape Town and Cairo. It is surrounded by famous mountains such as Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. In addition, it is the door to the world’s great wildlife refuges including Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti and Tarangire. Admission Requirements
The college draws its students from all regions in Tanzania who have a technical or science bias and passed well in their Ordinary level Examinations. Few places are also available for in-service applicants. Applicants from other countries may also apply through the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. Successful candidate may qualify for government sponsorship if applied in advance under the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. Private sponsorship is also acceptable. The following are the minimum requirements for admission to the College for the Ordinary Diploma Courses.
Pre-service candidates
Candidates must posses Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with good passes in Mathematics, Engineering science or Physics and Chemistry. These are selected by the Ministry of Education and vocational Training
In-service candidates
Applicants channel their applications through their respective employers. Self-employed applicants are required to route their application letters through District Councils or Sponsors. Candidates with minimum CSEE qualifications are required to sit for an entrance examination in Mathematics, Physics and English.
Pre-Access course
This is a special programme for students who would like to join engineering courses. This is an eight weeks programme. Successful female candidates qualify for the government sponsorship and Male students are private sponsored.
Degree programme
Admission to the programme will be open to candidates, who have an Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Civil Engineering or equivalent as may be approved by the ATC governing board.

Suye Health Institute, Arusha, REG/HAS/112P, Private institution with provisional registration, Arusha,This centre will offer training to qualified candidates using curricula approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and NACTE. Eligible candidates are those who have completed Ordinary Level Secondary Education (Form IV leavers) and those who have completed Advanced Secondary Education (Form VI leavers). In both situations, candidates must have studied science subjects, and have at least passes in biology, chemistry and physics. Minimum entry qualifications are; pass at D level in biology (Form IV) and principle E in biology (Form VI) levels, or those who have NTA Level 4 qualification.

TECHNICIAN CERTIFIDATE (in Clinical Medicine)
The course is a 2-year programme divided into semesters, each lasting up to 17 weeks.
The first year will mainly be theoretical, where students will acquire the necessary basic medical knowledge in class lectures that are necessary for future clinical practice.
The second year will complement the theory by providing supervised clinical skills and practical experience. Students will be guided in history taking, skilled physical examination of patients, necessary laboratory tests, determining diagnoses and actual management of patients.
The institute will assess students on a continuous basis, on assignments, practical tests and end of semester examinations.
The National Council for Technical Education will award a Technician Certificate (in Clinical Medicine) to successful candidates.
